I choose to do my photo essay on the Esso gas station at the corner of Kipling and Horner. This is a location i drive by and walk by every single day to get to school. I was also interested in the gas station because I started drag racing during the summer and I became very interested in cars. Being at the Esso gas station i saw that there is a varitey of things people go to a gas station for. Its not just for gas. People would go into the station to grab a coffee or buy some snacks or even get a car wash. I think the Esso gas station is a location that is used daily by people of the lakeshore community.

Frank Browne

The photographer i chose i was Frank Browne,he took famous photographs of the titanic and on board.Alot of his photos have to do with the life aboard the ship.I liked his photos because i like the shots of water are interseting and they look very visual because you can see the waves and it you can visualize the photo.

Photo collage

Last week we were able to go out a take photos,my
partner and i went out and seeing the envoirnemt we had to take photos in i chose to do my collage on texture and lines.My theme revolves around garbage and graffiti.

I made all the of the photos bright coluered because i wanted them to stand out.I got a backround of a graffiti wall because i think these are all photos of something you would find in this envoirnemt.I put the outer glow on all of the photos to make them look 3D and stand out more.Overall all of these photos have to do with garbage.

simplicity and lines in photos

The technique of simplicity is used to achieve the effect of focusing on one object in the picture and making it stand out from the background. Simplicity is one of the essential photographic techniques. By going closer to the object simplicity can be achieved. The simpler the picture, the easier it is for the view to realize the subject and appreciate it. Cluttered images and or backgrounds can distract the viewer from the main object in the photo.The pictures are simple becasue the eye is focused on one object.





The lines that can be found in photos are very powerful elements that can add dynamic impact to a photograph in terms of mood. These pictures show lines because the focus is on the horizontal and vertical lines.

First I got the picture of a plain white baseball with with white needles and opened it in to phtoshop.I clicked on the couler palette and went to hue/saturation i put the saturation at -100 to make the picture a lighter shade.I created a new layer and changed the blending mode to couler.Before i started to paint the picture i went to window- and clicked swatches.selecting the paintbrush tool i made the diameter 200 px.I used blue,green,yellow and pink to paint the picture.I started of at the top painting with yellow,then goinmg down a bit i used pink then blue, then green to create this effect.When i was done i deleted the hue/saturation layer.

I think this was a very easy effect to create and it can be used while editing many types of pictures,i think it would be best used to picture of people with a dark backrouund. It makes the picture of look alot more original and stand out instead of just black and white.

Album cover

The name of this band is Steven Ciabo. Seeing the picture of this calm lake with mountains in the backround gives the feeling of calm suthing music. I used black and grey for the band and album name because they are calm ,neutral coulers and the music is dull and not upbeat.I used the plain font because its just boring plain music. I think the album name "rest on pure joy" matches the album and band because it means just rest so it matched the music and album cover of just being calm and not bright coulered.


The second album cover i think would be disco,retro,techno upbeat music. I used bright coulers for the band name type 80 because it makes the music look happy,i used the bold writing outlined in red because the bright green with red look like such bright coulers and look like disco music.The picture kind of matches the music because the picture has lots of people walking and its busy and the type of music makes you wanna dance and move around.The album name freindship and conversation is totally random but i guess conversation could match the music because it means upbeat.The coulers i used go with the album because i used a bright red and the outer glow which maded the it pop out.The music reminds me of something you would go downtown to hear and too see the band.

Celbrity photo

First i got a picture of paris hilton and a seprate picture of a group of homeless people.Then I used the magic wand tool to erase most of the backround,any parts of the backround i misssed i used the eraser tool to get rid of it .I used the magnetic lasso tool to cut around Paris.Then i used the lasso tool to erase and parts i missed.I grabbed Paris and put her on the picture of with the homeless people.First i went to Edit-transform-scale to make her the right size.Then i went to hue/saturation to make her the right couler to fit in to the backround.

I think this image is incongrous because Paris Hilton is always being portrayed as ritch and doesnt really help the homeless.She always has her fancy clothes and expensive jewlery.Even in the picture she is wearing a fancy dress.I dont think she would ever be in this enviornment because she is so rich and even though she could be using her money too help people and donate money she chooses to use her money to buy clothes,expensive jewlery and plastic surgerys.
